About
Beckford’s Tower is the perfect destination for groups seeking an off-the-beaten-track experience.
Refurbished in 2024, this gold-tipped Tower offers a state-of-the-art visitor experience complete with digital immersive experiences alongside the traditional climb to the top of the Tower. Climb the pink spiral staircase, enjoy panoramic views from the Belvedere, then make your way through the atmospheric cemetery down to the hidden grotto.
The Tower was built in 1827 for William Beckford, who funded its creation using proceeds he gained from the transatlantic slave trade. This layered history is embedded sensitively into the museum’s displays, offering an honest and factual historic account.
In 2025/6 it won ‘Small Visitor Attraction of the Year’ at the Bristol, Bath and Somerset Tourism Awards.
They offer self-guided and guided visits for both groups and FITs. Guided tours take place with the knowledgeable Museum Assistants or members of the Curatorial team.
Key selling points for groups
Beckford’s Tower is perfect for groups who want to see another side of Bath. The semi-rural location offers incredible views over both Bath and the countryside, making it a great picnic and walking spot. Despite this, it is a mere 10-minute drive or bus journey from the centre of the city.
